Simple Morkuzhambu

Morkuzhmabu is a southindian yogurt coconut curry .It goes well with rice or rotti .


Serves - 2-3 people
Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking time - 5 minutes

INGREDIENTS:
Plain yogurt - 2 cups( If you are using thick curd, then dissolve it in less water and it should be in consistency of yogurt)
Desiccated coconut powder - 1/4 cup( I suggest you to use fresh grated coconut for better taste.)
Fresh red or green chilli - 2 no.s
Cumin seeds - 1 tablespoon
Ginger - 1 1/2 inch sized(Diced finely)
Salt - as required
Asafoetida powder - as required

SEASONING:
Oil- 2 tablespoon
Mustard- 2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 2 teaspoon
Urad dal- 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

METHOD:

1. Prepare all ingredients and set ready.

2. In mixer, grind ginger,coconut powder,cumin seeds, chilli by adding 6 table spoon of yogurt(you can take it from the 2 cups of yogurt which you have kept already) into a smooth paste. No need to add water . 

3. Mix the paste with remaining yogurt well. Add required salt and asafoetida powder.

4. Now, the seasoning part. In a pan, add 2 tablespoon of oil, then add mustard and cumin seeds. Once it splutters, add urad dal, fenugreek seeds and asafoetida powder. Pour it over the morkuzhambu. Serve with rice or rotti !.
