Yellow Moong Daal

Moong dal(Split green gram), is very healthy dish with high protein content. It goes well with rice or rotti and easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:
Moong daal(split green gram) - 1/2 cup
Water - 2 cups
Onion- 1/4 cup(chopped finely)
Fresh red or green chilli- 1 or 2
Ginger - 1 inch sized(Chopped finely)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1 tablespoon
Coriander leaves - as required
Salt- as required
Asafoetida powder - as required
Oil- 1 tablespoon

METHOD:
1. Pressure cook moong daal with 2 cups of water,turmeric powder,salt and 1 teaspoon of oil. Adding oil will not allow the daal to leak out of the cooker top. Keep in high for a whistle and then keep in full sim for about 10 minutes. Switch off the gas and allow the pressure to release itself.
2. In a pan, add a tablespoon of oil and add mustard seeds. Once it splutters, add cumin seeds, asafoetida powder.Then add ginger and green chilli.
3. Add onion and fry for few minutes, till it color changes.
4. Pour it over the dal and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
