ABOUT US

Jothi cooking book was initially started in 2016 by me(Abi) and my mom(Jothi), in creating easy to make Indian vegetarian recipes with limited ingredients available in your kitchen. My mom was an wonderful cook and she was a perfectionist , when it comes to cooking . She documented all the recipes, which she come across in many magazines, or through word of mouth from people. She maintained all those recipe in an old diary, which she always keeps as a treasure. When ever I get into any trouble in my cooking, my first call would be to her to find a way to patch up the mistake I made in cooking. One day, she suggested why dont I start a cooking blog and document all the recipes, so that, whenever I get any doubt in making the recipe, I can check my blog and fix it. She said, she will provide me with the recipe, and I can try to cook it at home and take pictures and put it in blog. The idea was very nice and I really enjoy doing it. Maintaining a blog and by looking at the posts I have created, kind of giving me a satisfaction .

Everything was going well, and on Dec 2016 , we were devastated upon hearing that my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Things weren't same after that. She undergone lot of pain, lot of treatments, many sleepless nights. Once she had been a great cook , wonderful homemaker, busy bee, and after getting cancer , she was in need of a maid to take care of our home and cook food. Cancer has done that much damage to her body, as she found it difficult to lead life everyday. Her battle was getting worse day by day, and finally on June 26th, 2019, my mom had her last breath. Today, am now with the blog created just for fun in 2016 , in the name of my mother "Jothi" and  when I created it, that time , I never thought that one day she will not be here in this world and the blog that I created in her name would be there as a memory of her. But as there is a saying "what ever happens, life has to go on" , I made up in my mind, no matter what, I should keep running this blog in remembrance of my mother and her idea of starting up this blog. Though she is not with me now, she lives inside me and also in this blog , through some of her recipes.

I tried my best to provide step by step pictures for each recipe in this blog. Feel free to browse through my blog (You can use the Recipe Index to get entire list of recipes in this blog!) to learn and cook simple Indian recipes!!! Also share your valuable comments!
